Bad attitudes are easy to identify in other people, when you see their anger over long queues and bad drivers. However, I’m sure you can admit that you have had days where you showed a bad attitude as well. We were given six steps to dealing with a bad attitude:
1. Identify the bad attitude.
2. Trace it the root problem/cause by asking yourself, “What is this attitude about?”
4. Receive God’s forgiveness and unconditional love.
5. Abide in him.
We were asked to give our bad attitude(s) from the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21) and hard heart to God. To stop thinking we have a right to hold onto them, cause of our brokenness. Jesus wants to take our bad attitudes and bless us. He will take our bad attitudes and replace them with something better. He wants to give us abundant life. It is not just that God doesn’t like the bad attitudes; it is that he has more for us. He has given us the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Therefore, do not stay in a rut caused by identifying yourself as a sinner. You are not a sinner saved by grace. You are a saint who is loved by God. Furthermore, do not compare your attitudes to others, as God loves you uniquely.
